Hi Kelly Thanks for sharing those informations You got those informations from NARA. IDPF of Odis Isaacs will give you more informations about the nature of his wounds and the COMPANY he belonged to . . The 119th has 3 BNs .A BN has 4 Companies etc . We need to have more accurate informations to start this research ; That's good Begin Thanks for Sharing. Vincent Heggen Belgium
I looked around for significant dates that might coincide with Isaacs' death. I found this (I don't know if it has anything to do with him, however, as no names were included):
"An hour before midnight, 20 December, the 1st Battalion, 119th Infantry (30th Division) and a tank company holding a sanatorium building on a hill on the edge of Stoumont came under attack. German tanks inched forward to positions from which they fired directly into the sanatorium. American tanks brought up were unable to negotiate the steep banks of the hill, and one was set afire by a German bazooka, two others were knocked out by German tank fire. These burning tanks and some outbuildings set afire lighted the approaches to the main building and prevented further American tank maneuver. German tanks then ran in close enough to fire through the windows of the sanatorium. After furious close-in fighting, the Germans took possession of the large building and drove the Americans off the hill."
Where was the 119th on 13-15 Jan 1945. My second cousin Glenn C bosman was killed on 13 Jan 1945. I am trying to find out the circunstances of his KIA. The VA says his records were lost in a fire back in the 1960s. I am trying to locate this info for our family tree. No one is alive now in our family that knows the circumstances of his death. Any help will be greatly appreciated. JE Davis
Hi Mr Davis. The 119th RGT was in Malmedy at that time and attacked Hedomont( south of Malmedy ) . Different companies were fighting at different places. Please provide me the company he belonged to . Vincent heggen Belgium
We do not know which company he was in. Someone told my cousin that he was a replacement and that he didn't last to long. No one now knows for sure what happened to him. JEDavis
After exhaustive searchs on the Internet and several web-sites cocerning the 119th Infantry Regiment and 30th Division, including two different casualty list, I have come to the conclusion that Pvt Glen C Bosman never lived long enough to be assigned to a company on paper. He is listed on both casualty list as "unknown company" and he was also listed as MIA before it was changed to KIA, so I feel that the date listed as his date of death, is probably at best an estimation. I would like to believe that he was alive when the three Bn's of the 119th started combat operations on the 13th of January 1945. I do not believe that we will ever know for sure. Thank You for your time and effort. SSG Jack E Davis; Retired, US Army National Guard.
Rob,
Have you gone to www.oldhickory30th.com/index.htm. Go there and look under reports as there are several reports concerning the 119th Reg. I assume you are looking for info concerning Odis M isaacs of Arkansas born 1922 and enlisted 23 Oct 1942. This is in Ancestry.com WW2 records. It odes not list a company or regiment however. Good luck and don't give up. Jack davis
Rob,
The 119th reg was made up of three battalions of three companies each. 1st bn had A, B, and C. 2nd Bn had D, E, and F. 3rd Bn had G, H and I company and also had an attached HC company and also a Cannon Company. There was also a company of attached forward observers to the 119th regiment. JED.
Rob,
When you go to that old hickory website it list all the casualties from the 119th reg. There are listed the regiments casualties. Glen is listed as not assigned a company. There is also a website for the 30th Division out of Indiana. That casualty list has all the companies of the 119th listed. But Glen C bosman and several hundred other KIAs were listed under Unknown Company. The G-3 knew they were assigned to a company but the 1st Sgt and the other company members just never had the time to write their names down. I also found out on that list that Glen was MIA before he was listed as KIA. So I don't know if that is his actual DOD or not. His tombstone states he died 13 Jan 1945. That was the day they went up against several dugin german infantry Companies on a line from Vellenaux to Hedomont to Baugnez. According to the AAR's it had been a hell of a fight with a lot of casualties in all the 119th's companies. JED
Rob,
SSG Odis M Isaacs was KIA 19 Dec 1944. He was a member of HQ Company 119th Inf Reg. It is on the casualty list for the 119th. Hope this helps. JED

Jack I could not find the list you refer to. Where did you found this? I just found the casualtylist that shows he was in the 119th but not in wich company.
Hi ; As I previously wrote in one of my replies ; the 3rd Bn was in Stoumont and the HQ, 3rd Bn , had to be in Stoumont also at that time . Vincent Heggen Belgium
Rob,
Go To http://www.indianamilitary.org/30TH/SoThinkMenu/30thSTART.htm and click on 30th infantry it will open a menu that allows you to access their casualty list. Open the 119th and it will give you all the functioning companies of the 119th at that time. You will find Isaac under the casualties and it will list him as SSg, killed in dec 44 and also he will be attributed to HQ Company. It does not state which Bn. But from the beginning of the BotB all HQ Companies were combined into a Provisional Company for the duration of Dec 44 and early Jan. 1945
Rob,
While you are on the www.indianamilitary.com website read some of the after action reports and combat journal entries concerning the 119th. These will tell you where the reg was fighting on any specific date. You got to remeber that these guys were fighting for their lives. The 106th Div had already been overrun and people and platoons were shuffled from one bn to the next as the reg G3 saw fit. That is why on the casualty list so many are noted as "unknown company." The company 1st Sgt's got wouded or killed and no one took the time to write down peoples names. That is why my cousin is not attributed to any specific company even though he was listed as a member of the 119th Inf Reg. Glen C Bosman's brother Phillip had been a meber of the 422nd Inf of the 106th Inf Div and had been in one of the first units to get overrun by the Germans in Dec 1944. He evaded and escaped and avoided capture, but the experience haunted him for the rest of his life.
