My uncle John A Chappell , 119th infantry regiment, 30th infantry, Cannon Company was KIA 28th july 1944 somewhere during the fight for St.LO during opperation Cobra , and is intered at Colleville sur mer, Omaha beach.I am looking to find any of his buddies who may be able to give me some information on his demise as all records and disspatches were destroyed in the St.Louis fire of '73. He was injured some time before the 28th and was sent back to re-couperate behind lines. Apparently, He did not take his rest lieing down, instead he returned to his unit to be with his buddies at the front before his alloted time was up. If anyone out there can remember him I would be eternaly grateful for any information at all. Yours in Old Hickery . Mark A Chappell.
Mr. Chappell: If you will contact me at: towersfw@windstream.net, perhaps I can help you.
