Looking for friends, buddies, officers who might have fought alongside my father. While at a bus stop in Missouri, he talked with a stranger who turned out to be related to him through a shared great-grandfather who had gone west years before. This man's daughter was just getting started in the movies. My father lost this man's address. Want to find out where my father fought and in what battles with his company. He fought at Mortain, France. Also in the hedgerows; his unit was caught behind enemy lines in Germany and was 3 days getting out--he had to hide in a hay pile and eat nothing but raw turnip for three days; his company was accidentally bombed when the smoke marker blew the other way and the US was bombing all around his troops (thinking they were the enemy) and a plane had to swoop under the bombers so the US bombers would see it and stop bombing; he had a dud bomb land right next to him; he was in the second wave at D Day (I believe); my father was wounded in the arm by shrapnel shortly before the Battle of the Bulge (where he was headed) and was medically discharged to go home. Thanks for your time.
